The City of Florence is located on the Central Oregon Coast, 60 miles west of Eugene, the I-5 corridor and airport / rail / bus access. The population within a ten mile radius is reported to be 15,000. Florence is a busy community with new hospital, library, events center and justice center. The commercial activity, along with the ocean, lakes, river recreational opportunities, including hunting, fishing and dune riding. Over the past 10 years the quality of life has attracted many people and the population is growing. 


Located in the exact center of the Oregon Coast, Florence is at the intersection of US Highway 101 and State Highway 126. It is surrounded by seventeen pristine fresh water lakes, miles of magnificent ocean beaches, spectacular sand dunes, forested mountains, and the Siuslaw River Estuary. Florence also enjoys two challenging 18 hole golf courses.  Within the town is "Old Town," a major tourist attraction offering a bustling shopping district, restaurants, boutiques, and parks. 

Spring brings an array of floral brilliance with rhododendrons, daffodils, azaleas, and giant ferns, with some varieties of flowers blooming as early as February.

Long mild Indian Summers, lasting into late October, bring magnificent sunsets with warm breezes and starry nights. In the fall, residents and visitors take to the miles of paved back roads to see the awesome colors of the changing foliage. Winter brings dramatic ocean storms that send pounding waves and 100 foot sprays of water to the shores. In sharp contrast are the crystal clear days offering views that stretch forever. Despite stories about Oregon's rainfall, the sun makes frequent appearances as misty showers come and go in winter and early spring.

Late spring, summer and fall are delightful with moderate temperatures and long stretches of bright, sunny days. Florence's rainfall total is comparable to many major Gulf Coast and eastern cities.

Average daytime winter temperatures are in the 50's, summertime temperatures rarely exceed 85, making Florence delightful year round.

The Florence Events Center, a modern state-of-the-art facility, combines 8,000 square feet of meeting and exhibit space with a 500-seat proscenium style theater, opening doors of opportunity never before available on the Oregon coast. As you enter the grand lobby of the Center, your eye is drawn upward to the majestic light towers above you, which shine at night as a proud beacon of our beautiful community.
